Services

Something's off. You can't name it.

The site's live. The campaigns are running. The deck looks fine. On paper, it all works and yet something underneath isn't pulling its weight, and you can't quite put your finger on what. Nine times out of ten, it isn't a visual problem. It's positioning, messaging and language, the part that decides whether the rest of it works. That's where we start.

You might recognise this

The signals are usually small, until they aren't.

By the time the brand becomes the problem, it's already costing you in close rates, hiring and confidence. Here's what we hear most:

  • Your team can say what you do. None of them can quite say why it matters.

  • There's no shortage of activity (campaigns, content, posts), but it isn't turning into leads, and "do more" isn't the answer.

  • Referrals still come in. Cold inbound has gone quiet.

  • Ask two people in the same meeting what you do, and you'll get two different answers.

  • Every sales call starts from scratch, because nothing's done the convincing before you arrive.

  • The business has grown up. The language hasn't caught up.

The approach

Here's how we fix it.

When the brief is open, we don't start with a logo, a content calendar or a list of things to post. We start by working out what you actually stand for, then build everything outward from there. Strategy first, then the useful stuff.

  1. 01

    Get clear

We dig into what you do, who it's really for and why it matters; the positioning and strategy that sit underneath everything else. So you can stop second-guessing and make decisions from a clear point of view, not a hunch.

  2. 02

    Say it properly

We turn that clarity into language and a brand people actually understand: messaging, website copy, visual identity, the way it all sounds and looks. So your brand explains itself before you have to.

  3. 03

    Put it to work

Then we make it show up, consistently: content, social, campaigns and a marketing structure that holds together instead of pulling in six directions. So your activity supports sales, rather than just keeping everyone busy.

All of it led by Dave and Jess, with specialists pulled in from our network only when a project genuinely needs them. No layers, no hand-offs to people you've never met, just senior thinking and work that earns its keep.

Where we start

The Brand Strategy Workshop.

Where the problem isn't obvious yet, we start with a structured workshop with your leadership team, before the logo or the website or the campaign. The goal is to name what's actually broken, and end with a strategy you can use, not a deck that gathers dust.

Most teams leave the workshop with a clearer view of their business than they came in with. The next steps usually build themselves.

The Alchemy studio set up for a brand strategy workshop
  • Outcome 01

    Sharp positioning

A short, memorable statement of who you serve, what you do, and why it matters, that your team can repeat under pressure.

  • Outcome 02

    Audience clarity

Defined ideal-customer segments, the words they use, and the buying journey you're actually operating in.

  • Outcome 03

    A brand strategy doc

Story, voice, messaging pillars, proof points: everything you need to brief copy, design, sales and hiring.

  • Outcome 04

    A roadmap for what's next

Identity, website, content, sales collateral: sequenced and costed, so the next 6–12 months are clear.

What flows from the workshop

Then we build what the roadmap calls for.

You don't need to know what you need yet. The workshop tells us. And if you already do know, that works too, which is the next section. Most teams go on to use some combination of the below.

  • Visual identity

Logo, type, colour and the brand language that ties it together, with guidelines that keep it consistent as the team grows and more people start using it.

    Visual identity service page
  • Website

Strategic design and build: fast, accessible, and easy for your team to keep updated once we hand it over. Built to do a job, not just to look new for a year.

    Website service page
  • Animation & motion

Explainer videos, motion identity, social cuts and campaign work; the message brought to life for the moments when words on a page aren't enough.

  • Sales & proposal design

Decks, proposals and one-pagers built to close: on-brand, on-message, and set up inside the tools you already use (Better Proposals, Proposify, Qwilr).

  • Content & social

Content systems and social design retainers; the day-to-day craft that keeps the brand showing up properly, instead of going quiet between the big projects.

  • Ongoing partnership

Your design and brand team for the long stretch: embedded, on hand, with retainers shaped around the work that actually needs doing rather than a fixed package you have to grow into.

The other way in

If you already know what you need.

Plenty of people arrive with the decision already made. A video with a date on it. A rebrand the board signed off months ago. A site that has to be live before the launch. A report that has to look like it came from a serious business. We take that work on its own, and we are good at it.

One condition, and it is the only one. If we think the thing underneath is the actual problem, we will say so before you commission anything, not halfway through. A logo will not fix a proposition nobody can repeat, and we would rather lose the job than take it knowing that.

We also build reports, run social and content, and take on the odd thing that does not fit a list. If you are not sure which of these you are after, that is what the call is for.

Who we work with

Ambitious, growing, ready to fix the foundations.

We're not the right fit for everyone. The businesses we do our best work with usually look like this:

Revenue
£500k – £15M
Team
Founders, ops leads or a small in-house marketing team
Stage
Growing, hiring, scaling, and feeling the limits of the brand they started with
Mindset
Ambitious enough to invest in the foundations before scaling the spend

Still can't quite name it?

That's usually the right place to start. Book a call and we'll help you work out what's actually going on and what's worth fixing first.
